Modernist Poets

As I Grow Older

It was a long time ago.
I have almost forgotten my dream.
But it was there then,
In front of me,
Bright like a sun—
My dream.

LANGSTON HUGHES - (1902-1967). American writer. Photographed in 1939 by Carl Van Vechten.. Fine Art. Britannica ImageQuest, Encyclopædia Britannica, 25 May 2016. Accessed 13 Mar 2017.

Searching Tips

Broaden or narrow your search terms

  • Use AND to narrow your search (Women AND Africa)
  • Use OR to broaden your search (Women OR Gender)

 Basic search vs. advanced search

  • Advanced search allows you to limit your results by date, publication, language, full text, etc.

Use quotation marks around an exact phrase

  • If you want to search for a multi-word phrase, use quotation marks around the words to get results that use the words in exactly that order. For example, search “human rights” instead of human AND rights.
